This project explores the history and evolution of the Canary Islands through three innovative interactive books. Often overlooked in education, the islands' transformation is examined by delving into their origins, the culture of the Guanches, the impact of conquest, and contemporary challenges such as climate change and mass tourism.
Designed to symbolize the flow of external and internal influences, the project present history as tangible and dynamic. Divided into three books, it provides a structured narrative. The main section, focusing on the origins and history of the Canary Islands, is printed on thicker paper to represent the deep roots of the past. The other two sections, addressing external influences, climate change, and tourism, use thinner paper to signify the transient and transformative nature of these forces.
By integrating interactive and personal elements, the books bring to life the emotional and physical changes the islands have undergone. This engaging format fosters a deeper connection to the Canary Islands' rich heritage while addressing their underrepresentation in educational materials.
